General Product Questions

What’s the difference between the Nova series and other laser engravers?
The Nova series, just like the rest of our products, are rigorously tested and have to meet high quality standards. For instance all of our tubes must produce more power than what they are quoted to. So a 100w tube must produce more than 100w or else it doesn’t pass quality control.

Thunder Laser brings premium build quality and top rated customer support at an affordable price to our customers. The other brands do not have the complete package like we do. Xtool has a good price, but no customer service and their machines are hobby grade. Epilog makes great machines, but they are not affordable.

That depends on which machine you go with. Our CO2 lasers, like the Nova and Bolt series, can cut and/or engrave materials like wood, acrylic, leather, plastics, stone, glass, tumblers, and plenty more. Our Aurora fiber lasers are best used for engraving metals and plastics.

Max cutting thickness will depend on what wattage you purchase. The higher your wattage, the thicker you can cut. We have customers who are using a 130w to cut ¾” wood and acrylic all day everyday with some even cutting 1” thick.

This is a great question! We ensure precise cutting and engraving by using premium products on our machines and rigorously testing them. If a machine doesn’t meet our standards then it doesn’t get sold.

Yes, our machines are great for beginners or first timers. I would recommend the Nova or Bolt series for someone who is just starting out, because those machines are the most versatile. One thing to keep in mind is that just because a machine is bigger doesn’t mean that it is harder to use. The biggest Nova and Bolt machines are just as easy to operate as the smaller ones!

Features and Performance

What’s the wattage difference, and which one should I choose for my needs?

If you think you are going to be doing a lot of cutting then we would recommend going with a higher wattage laser machine. Wattage determines not only how thick you can cut, but also how fast you can cut. For those who are just engraving, you wont need a higher power laser, but there isn’t a downside to getting one anyways. You never know what the future holds for you and your business so you would hate to sell yourself short right off the bat.

Our machines operate with LightBurn Software which is extremely user friendly. LightBurn is the best and most widely used laser software on the market today. We have so many tutorials and videos on how to use it and don’t forget you also get lifetime support from Thunder Laser so if you need help with LightBurn or the machine…we’ve got your back!

Cutting and engraving speeds will vary depending on which Thunder Laser machine you are looking at, but they tend to be 3-5 times faster at engraving than hobby grade laser machines.

Due to our high quality control standards, our machines are deadly accurate. Constant aligning is not something that you have to worry about with Thunder Lasers as they come prealigned straight from the factory.

Yes, our machines are versatile enough to handle both personal and professional projects.
